In Texas, you can tell summer is here when the overnight low is 80 degrees or higher, kids are in camps, and ice cream is almost a meal unto itself. But vacations and summer fun mean something different to Carter BloodCare – a dip in frequent blood donations. When someone gives blood, that person becomes a ‘first responder’ – preparing the blood supply before it might be needed. Donating blood is giving life and saving lives.
Calendars with family fun, dips in the lake and summer vacations can also include a blood donation appointment. Accidents, cancer, transplants and heart surgeries require blood, and they are not put on hold for a seasonal break.
All Star Ford of Fairfield is hosting a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 17, at 1201 Highway 84 West in the parking lot on the Carter BloodCare bus.
For more information or to schedule an appointment time, contact Tina Gelske at (903) 389-4186.
Carter BloodCare says to #GiveForLife. Whole blood can be donated every 56 days. Other types of blood donations can be given more frequently.
Make an appointment at a Carter BloodCare donor center near you, or donate at a local community blood drive. Carter BloodCare urges eligible blood donors to consider giving two to three times a year, if possible. Make one of those times this summer.
