Heavy smoke and fire from the roof of this home brought a response from firefighters from all over Freestone County.
Fairfield Volunteer Fire Department, along with firefighters from Teague, Wortham, Streetman, Southern Oaks, and Dew, responded to the fire at this single-story home on FM 2547 just north of Fairfield, Texas the morning of Wednesday, September 5, 2018.
Fairfield’s Engine 83 began the offensive fire attack.
According to Fire Chief Matt Foree, the crew entered the home, finding high heat with zero visibility. They located heavy fire in the attack and began extinguishment.
Teague Fire Engine 93 crew arrived and supplemented Engine 83 crew.
All other fire departments began arriving and were assigned various fire attack and fire ground duties.
Also responding were Freestone County Sheriff’s Office and Fairfield EMS, who treated two firefighters for heat-related emergencies.
“Great job by ALL,” says Foree, “including a stay bovine.” Thanks, also, to passerby’s and citizens that assisted.
