Albert Sr. Gallegos died peacefully surrounded by his family November 14th, 2020 at his home in Fairfield, Texas after a four year battle with cancer.

Albert Gallegos was born to Donaciano and Margarita Gallegos on February 17th, 1957. Albert Gallegos (Big Al) worked at Nucor Steel Mill for over 30 years. He retired from Nucor and went on to become a Wastewater Supervisor for the City of Fairfield for an additional 15 years. Albert Gallegos took pride in the work he did and made many friends along the way.

Albert Sr. Gallegos left an impact on many hearts. Albert was proud of his family and loved his wife Teresa Gallegos with all his heart. He always sacrificed to make sure his children and wife were taken care of first. He was a hardworking man who was always working on his appliances or the house as his hobby. He loved cooking on the weekends while listening to his favorite songs surrounded by his family. Albert enjoyed watching his legacy continue to grow through his grandkids. He received his strength and will to battle cancer from all of his family being together. Big Al was a great father, Papi, brother and friend. Big Al will always be remembered for his contagious smile, hard work ethic, and selfless heart.

He is preceded in death by his father Donaciano Gallegos in 1986, Margarita Gallegos in 2019, and sister Rosa Salazar in 2019.

Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife Teresa; his three children, Albert Jr. and wife Stacy Gallegos, Martin and wife Bracey Gallegos, Elena Gallegos and significant other Grant Freeburger; grandchildren Abigail Gallegos, Ava Gallegos, Hayden Gallegos, Madisyn Gallegos, Landree Gallegos; sisters Ameila Williams, Justine Fuentes, Janie and husband Mike Falkner, Connie and husband Randall Whitaker, Lupe and husband Billy Barlow; brothers Tony and wife Janice Gallegos, John and wife Hope Gallegos, Joe Gallegos, David and wife Carla Gallegos, John Manuel and wife Ronni Gallegos.

Visitation will be held at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home at 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday November 18th, 2020. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday November 19th, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Fairfield, Texas. Burial services will follow at Fairfield Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Clyde Woods, Daniel Rekieta, David Willis, Joe Cruz, Jack Carroll, Randall Selman, Robert Davis, and Rodger Young. Honorary pallbearers will be Grant Freeburger, Tony Gallegos, John Gallegos, Joe Gallegos, David Gallegos, John Manuel Gallegos, and his grandpups Rambo, Logan, Leia, Coco and Bear Gallegos.

Dad/Papi, even though we were not ready to let you go, we know you’re walking in heaven with Apa and Ama. We will miss your laugh but we will hold on to the wonderful memories you have given so many in this lifetime. You inspired everyone you knew and we will continue to share your story to inspire others. We know you will be our guardian angel watching us from heaven. We love you very much, until we meet again, see you later.
