Albert Lee McCord, 84, passed away on Monday, January 20. 2025, at the Teague Nursing Home.
He was born in Crockett and grew up in Grapeland; moved to the Fort Worth area for his high school years where he excelled in football and Golden Gloves Boxing.
After high school, Albert enlisted in the Marine Corps on August 6, 1957, and served in Japan and Korea. He was a proud Marine and once again excelled playing football and boxing in the Corps. He received the Good Conduct Medal and was honorably discharged on August 4, 1961, and fully released as a reserve on August 5, 1963.
Following his time in the Marines, he lived in California where he studied and learned the trade of underwater welding and became a pipefitter. He returned to Texas and spent most of his career with a sub-contractor of DOW Chemical in Brazoria and retired as superintendent.
He moved to Kirvin in 2017, after suffering damage from Hurricane Harvey.
Albert is survived by two nephews and one niece, Clovie Don McCord & wife Donna, Tena Mabile & husband Todd, and Shade McCord, all of Kirvin; great-nephews and great-nieces, Micah Brandon McCord & wife Gabi, Shelby McCord, Erin Rae Tacker & husband Bud, Heather Elizabeth Dusenberry & husband Billy, Holden Tate McCord, and Hannah Michele McCord; numerous great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Burnard McCord and Margie Musick; two brothers, Shade Carlton McCord and Arthur Glenn McCord; and one great-nephew, Jesse Don McCord.
Graveside services were held on Friday, January 24, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Parker Cemetery near Grapeland, TX.
Clovie McCord officiated, and Military Honors were given by the United States Marine Corps.
Visitation was held prior to the service on Friday at the Parker Cemetery Chapel beginning at 1:00 p.m.
