Every year, thousands of senior drivers take the AARP Smart Driver course. The program is based on the latest driver safety research and insights.
When you take it, you will learn defensive driving methods and safety strategies to help refresh your knowledge of the rules of the road.
After course completion, you may even be eligible for a multi-year car insurance discount.
The AARP Smart Driver Course teaches:
–Defensive driving techniques, new traffic laws and rules of the road
–How to deal with aggressive drivers
–How to safely navigate adverse weather conditions
–Expanded information on automobile technology
The AARP driver safety course will be held in Fairfield on Thursday, November 9 from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Community Room of the Fairfield Public Library. The library is located at 350 W. Main St, Fairfield.
While this refresher course focuses exclusively on the needs of drivers 50 years of age or older, anyone interested in driving courses may attend. The AARP smart driving course is known to be very helpful for those applying for a michigan driving test since almost a quarter of Michigan’s residents are senior citizens.
The cost is $15 for AARP members and $20 for non-members which covers the cost of the take-home material.
This class is not a state-approved safe driving class to be taken by someone to remove a traffic ticket from your record.
