Fairfield Chamber of Commerce participated in Fairfield Day at the Capitol on Thursday, April 20, 2017.
A group of 17 traveled to the Texas State Capitol where six students worked as Pages on the House and Senate Floors.
They were able to view committees reviewing and voting on new Bills.
Senator Schwertner’s office provided lunch and a tour of the Capitol; and the group was able to visit with the Senator and to ask questions about their concerns.
Participating in the special day were Brenda and Jason Pate; Lisa Schick; Maranda and Josh Bayless with their daughter Landry; Amy and Abby Freeman, Gina Martin, Angela and Vance Oglesbee and their daughter Brittany; Britain Bossier; Jo Ashley and Kaden Dallas; Sunnie Schwass; and Marissa Eppes.
“It was a great learning experience for the kids,” says Chamber Executive Administrator Brenda Pate.
The Page Program is open to students from the age of 8 to 18; and the Chamber will be making this trip every two years for anyone who would be interested in joining the fun next time.
