Fairfield, Texas, Freestone County — August 12, 2026 — The Freestone County Republican Party today formally endorses the eight Legislative Priorities adopted by the Republican Party of Texas at its 2026 State Convention held in Houston this past June.

These priorities, selected by grassroots Republican delegates from across Texas, will serve as the Party’s primary focus for the 90th Texas Legislature. The Freestone County Republican Party stands firmly behind these measures and calls on our elected officials to advance them with urgency and resolve.

The eight Legislative Priorities are:

1. Secure Texas Elections — Strengthening voter eligibility requirements, requiring photo ID, protecting paper ballots, closing the primary, and ensuring transparent, secure election administration.

2. Don’t Sharia Our Texas — Declaring Sharia Law incompatible with the Texas and U.S. Constitutions and taking concrete steps to prevent its influence in Texas law, government, and institutions.

3. Completely Eliminate All Property Tax — Developing and implementing a plan to fully eliminate property taxes while requiring fiscal discipline and voter approval for any future tax increases.

4. Ban Taxpayer-Funded Lobbying — Prohibiting the use of taxpayer dollars to hire lobbyists or fund organizations that lobby the Legislature.

5. Secure Texas Grid, Water, Energy, Agriculture, and Property Sovereignty — Protecting critical infrastructure, water resources, the electric grid, farmland, and private property rights from foreign influence and government overreach.

6. Border Enforcement — Strengthening border security, requiring local cooperation with federal immigration authorities, mandating E-Verify, and ending taxpayer-funded benefits for those unlawfully present.

7. Protect Texas Kids — Enhancing school employee screening, strengthening parental rights and family sovereignty, and protecting children from harmful materials and policies.

8. Protect Life — Affirming the sanctity of human life from fertilization to natural death and strengthening legal protections for the unborn and vulnerable.

“These priorities reflect the clear will of Texas Republicans,” said Linda Weldon, Chairman of the Freestone County Republican Party. “From election integrity and border security to protecting our children, our property rights, and the sanctity of life, these are the issues that matter most to the people of Freestone County and across our state. We expect our legislators to fight for them.”

The Freestone County Republican Party encourages all local Republican elected officials, candidates, and activists to actively support and advocate for these Legislative Priorities in the upcoming session.
