At approximately 9:18 a.m. on Friday, July 31, the Teague Police Department was notified of a suspicious object near the intersection of 12th Street and China Street.
Responding officers searched the area and located a heavily rusted and dirt-covered hand grenade.
After carefully examining the item, officers determined that the grenade was inert and posed no threat to public safety.
The grenade was safely removed from the area by Teague Police Department personnel.
The Teague Police Department reminds residents not to touch or move suspicious items.
Anyone who discovers a potentially dangerous object should leave the immediate area and contact law enforcement.
