Driver Arrested Following Reckless Driving Complaint

On Monday, May 25, 2026, at approximately 3:49 p.m., an on-duty Teague Police Department officer was stationary near the west city limits when a motorist who had reported a reckless driver alerted the officer to the suspect vehicle as it entered town near Freestone Mobile Home Park on U.S. Highway 84 West.

The officer caught up to the vehicle near North 4th Avenue and observed the vehicle traveling over the posted speed limit and failing to maintain a single marked lane. A traffic stop was initiated, but the driver failed to stop and continued onto McGee Street before turning into the McGee Street Apartments, where the vehicle came to a stop.

Officers contacted the driver and observed signs of intoxication. The driver was unable to perform Standardized Field Sobriety Testing and was placed under arrest. The driver later consented to a breath test, which indicated a result over the legal limit.

The driver was booked into the Freestone County Jail. Texas Department of Public Safety troopers assisted with the incident, as they were in the area when the traffic stop was initiated.

The Teague Police Department reminds motorists to report reckless or impaired drivers by calling 911 when it is safe to do so.

Leads to Arrest Warrant in Vehicle Burglary Case

On May 12, 2026, at approximately 7:40 p.m., the Teague Police Department responded to a reported vehicle burglary in the 500 block of Main Street.

Officers learned the burglary occurred earlier that day between approximately 12:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. Reported stolen items included approximately $4,200 in cash, a metal cash box with money tray, a bank bag, and identity documents.

The case was assigned to the Teague Police Department Criminal Investigation Division for follow-up. During the investigation, surveillance video was obtained and reviewed. Investigators positively identified the suspect as 36-year-old Ycoveack Stevenson.

Additional information was developed during the investigation, including unconfirmed reports that Stevenson had been bragging about breaking into a vehicle in the same area where the burglary occurred. Investigators followed up on those reports and identified additional witnesses who stated Stevenson had been seen displaying a large amount of cash after the burglary. Based on the investigation, an arrest warrant was obtained and entered into NCIC/TCIC.

The Teague Police Department later received confirmation that Stevenson was arrested in Limestone County over the weekend following a separate disturbance call.

The Teague Police Department thanks the witnesses and businesses who assisted with this investigation.
