Fairfield ISD recently distributed a total of $75,580 in Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) to intermediate, junior high and high school teachers in the district.

FISD started participating in the program a few years ago. At that time, only teachers in subjects on the STAAR tests were eligible. Now, all teachers are eligible.

STAAR-tested subjects use results from the STAAR Tests and Non-STAAR-tested subjects use Student Learning Objectives. TIA funding is based on growth of students and observations of the teacher from throughout the school year.

Teachers will receive 90% of the awarded funds and the remaining 10% is distributed to the district for training, etc.

There are three different levels of funding: Recognized – $6,555 (Recognizes Top 33% of teachers in state), Exemplary – $13,111 (Recognizes Top 20% of teachers in state), and Master – $23,851 (Recognizes Top 5% of teachers in state).

Teachers receiving TIA this year will be recognized at the May 11, 2026, FISD School Board Meeting. They include:

–Fairfield Intermediate
Sarah Block (Master)
Shannon Block (Recognized)

–Fairfield Junior High
Nanceen Hoskins (Recognized)
Kimberly Vargas (Recognized)
Jill Schick (Exemplary)

–Fairfield High School
Gay Lynn Swan (Recognized)
Joel Kuehl (Recognized)
Katie Wade (Recognized)

Sarah Block and Kimberley Vargas joined the district with TIA designations. The remaining 6 teachers earned theirs while working for FISD.

Those six teachers earning it from FISD will receive a check once a year for 5 years. The teacher’s designation can go up from year to year over the five-year span, but not backwards.

This year’s funding is based on data from the 2024-2025 school year. The 2025-2026 school year funding will be announced in the spring of 2027.

Congratulations to these outstanding teachers.
