Earlier in March, the Wortham Police Department initiated an investigation into the passing of counterfeit currency at local businesses.
This Investigation led to issuance of arrest warrants for individuals involved.
In the early morning hours of March 31st, with the assistance of the Navarro County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team and DPS criminal
Investigations, a search warrant was executed at a residence on E San Saba Ave and six individuals were taken into custody.
During the search, counterfeit currency was located, along with over 400 grams of suspected methamphetamine and other suspected narcotics and illegal substances.
All six individuals were transported to the Freestone County Jail and charged with the following.
–Forgery of a Financial Instrument
–Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity
–Man/Del Controlled Substance PG 1>400g
–Poss CS PG 4>400g
–Poss, use, inhale, or Ingest Volatile Chemical
–Poss Dangerous Drugs
–Poss, Transport Chemical W/Intent to Manufacture Controlled Substances
The suspects’ names will not be released at this time as this is an ongoing investigation.
The Wortham Police Department remains focused keeping the Criminal Element out of our city and illegal drugs off our streets and out of the hands of our children.
