A total of 4,199 voters voiced their opinions in this year’s Primary Elections held on Tuesday, March 3, 2026. In the end, 3,429 voted Republican and 770 voted Democratic.
Moving forward, two races have developed for the November Election on the County level, that of Commissioner, Pct. 3 and Justice of the Peace, Pct. 3.
For Commissioner Pct. 3, incumbent/interim Richard McGowan won the primary against Jerred Swinburn on the Republican ticket. He will face off against Opal Oliver who ran unopposed on the Democratic ticket.
Justice of the Peace, Pct. 3 incumbent Cinnamon Archibald, who ran unopposed on the Republican ticket will face off against Democratic candidate Karen Malone Daniels, who was also unopposed.
Voted in as County Judge is interim Lloyd Lane, who was appointed to fill the remainder of Judge Linda Grant’s term last year.
Justice of the Peace, Pct. 4 incumbent Lisa Hendrix was ousted by newcomer Adam Minze. He will be the new JP 4 as there is no competition on the Democratic side.
Both Democrat and Republican parties have a new party chair. Linda K Weldon won over incumbent Keith Turchi for the Republicans, and Pete Harper will be the new Democratic party chair. Harper ran unopposed as former chair, Opal Oliver, is running for Commissioner, Pct. 3.
Also contested was the Pct. 1 Republican Chair. Brenda Finch beat out Elizabeth Waters.
At press time, no ‘Official’ results were posted. Counts must first be certified in Commissioners’ Court during one of their upcoming meetings.
