Celebrating ten (10) years of ownership of the Tri-County Golf Club at The Vineyards are Sarah and Steven Beaird.
In March of 2016, the couple purchased the club, and in 2020 they relocated the family from New Braunfels.
The Beairds have three kids; Adyson (16), Casen (13), and Peyton (10), all who attend Teague ISD schools.
Sarah is a Math Inclusion teacher at Teague Elementary School. Steven is co-owner (with his brother Mitch) of Beaird Drilling Service, which specializes in foundational drilling.
The family lives onsite at Hole 13, where they’ve built a home.
A grandson of founding member Lester Stacks, Steven and his brothers grew up in Teague, spending a lot of time at the course playing golf and doing other kid things, especially during the summers.
Since purchasing the golf course, the Beairds have made many changes and upgrades to the facility.
“When we took over, there were fish in the swimming pool!” exclaimed Steven. “We have completely renovated the pool and perform regular maintenance to keep it in top shape.”
Turf, cabanas, and outdoor games have been added to make the pool area more enjoyable.
As for the club house, there has been a total renovation to include the bar, dining room, restrooms, office, and event hall.
On the golf course, they have expanded from a 9-hole to an 18-hole, bringing back the old #9 (now the #18) as the best finishing hole. Other changes made include adding sand traps and water features, making it more challenging, and updating cart paths.
The club hosts many golf tournaments, including area high schools and youth tournaments, from 8 years old and up.
“This past summer, the amount of kids swimming, fishing, golfing…there has not been that much involvement since when I was a kid. It’s great to see,” explained Steven.
The restaurant menu was updated and is now available for all, not just members.
New golf carts and equipment were purchased as well.
Live outdoor music on Friday nights was introduced in 2024. Get ready for it to begin this month. Music typically runs from about 7:00-10:00 p.m., featuring local and Texas artists. All are welcome.
The couple is also redeveloping the tree farm and grape vineyards. A winery is in the works, but there is no projected opening date yet.
“Time flies,” said Steven. “It’s cool to think we’ve been here for ten years already. The coolest part is seeing kids’ involvement, watching them doing things we grew up doing.”
He goes on to say, “From growing up here, being local, we really appreciate all the support we’ve received over the years. If you’re looking for a fun, up-to-date atmosphere without a long drive, come check us out. We are family friendly; from 5 years to 85 years, we have something for everyone.”
There are many different types of membership available, but the food and entertainment are open for everyone.
Membership types include Bronze, Silver, Gold, Corporate, Pool Only, Golf Only, and Social Membership.
The club is open seven (7) days a week from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Tri-County Golf Club at the Vineyards is located at 125 PR 940, Teague (just off Highway 84 between Teague and Fairfield).
