County of Freestone, Texas – Declaring Local State of Disaster Due to Wildfire & Drought Conditions

A Local State of Disaster has been declared by Freestone County Judge Lloyd Lane.

Signed on Monday, February 9, 2026, the Declaration was filed as a result of widespread wildfire and drought conditions.

Declaring Local State of Disaster Due to Wildfire & Drought Conditions

WHEREAS, the wildfire and drought conditions event poses a risk to life and property of all residents and businesses in Freestone County; and

WHEREAS, Freestone County has taken extraordinary measures to respond to the effects of the wildfires to protect life and property; and

WHEREAS, Freestone County established emergency protective measures and emergency response plans for this type of emergency; and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED BY THE JUDGE OF FREESTONE COUNTY, TEXAS;

 SECTION 1. That a local state of disaster is hereby declared in Freestone County, Texas, pursuant to Section 418.108 (a) of the Texas Government Code.

SECTION 2. That pursuant to Section 418.108 (b) of the Texas Government Code, the state of disaster shall continue for a period not more than seven (7) days from the date the declaration, unless renewed by the Commissioners Court of Freestone County, Texas.

SECTION 3. That pursuant to Section 418.108 (c) of the Texas Government Code this declaration of a local state of disaster shall be given prompt and general publicity and shall be filed promptly with the County Clerk.

SECTION 4. That pursuant to Section 418.108 (d) of the Texas Government Code, this declaration of a local state of disaster activated the Freestone County, Texas, emergency management plan, and authorizes the furnishing of aid and assistance under this declaration.

SECTION 5. That this declaration shall take effect February 9¹h,2026, and continue upon approval by the Commissioners Court, shall continue in effect until terminated by the County Judge. Pursuant to this declaration, additional directives may be issued by the County Judge at any time as deemed necessary
