New to Fairfield, The Chop Shop opened on January 20, 2026, at 1500 E. Commerce Street (previously the location of Café Around the Corner).
Owners Jack and Jayci (Hughes) Turner offer professional dog grooming services, including bath and brush, full haircuts and styling, nail trimming, and de-shedding treatments. Their focus is on quality grooming in a calm, clean environment.
After years of hands-on experience in dog grooming, the couple felt inspired to open their own shop where they could set the standard for quality, consistency, and care. The Chop Shop is a reflection on how they believe grooming should be done.
“We pride ourselves on consistency, attention to detail, and genuinely caring for the dogs in our care,” explains Jayci. “Our goal is for every pet parent to know exactly what to expect each time they bring their dog in, both in the quality of our work and the level of customer service they receive.”
Jayci is a native of Freestone County. She graduated from Fairfield High School in 2016. After graduation, she moved away for about 10 years during which time she met her husband Jake and had their daughter Aria. She is currently pursuing a degree in Business Management from Abilene Christian University.
Jake graduated from Ennis High School in 2015 and attended Texas A&M University where he studied Communications.
“We’re excited to be back and to be part of this community again, and I’m especially grateful that our daughter will get to grow up here and attend the local schools,” says Jayci.
“Aria loves going to the shop where she gets to see all the dogs,” Jayci explains. “Being able to build this business as a family has been incredibly meaningful to us, and we’re grateful for our family members who have encouraged and supported us in making this business possible. We’re also incredibly grateful for the support we’ve already received from the community.”
She concludes by saying, “Our goal is to provide reliable, high-quality grooming while building lasting relationships with our clients and being a positive part of the Fairfield community.”
The Chop Shop is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
