Another year has flown by, and the 9th Annual Kid Fish is just around the corner! It’s time to begin making plans to attend Fort Boggy State Park’s 9th Annual Kid Fish, Saturday, March 7, 2026.

The “Annual Kid Fish” is for children ages 5-12. All participating children must be accompanied by an adult 18 years or older and no more than two children per adult.

Pre-registration is highly recommended, though there will be a limited number of walk-ins allowed.

Dress appropriately as this event will take place regardless of weather.

Registration opens January 1, 2026, and will continue until sessions are filled or February 20th, whichever comes first. Don’t delay in registering due to the limited space available.

You must sign up using the website provided on the TPWD Events Page or the QR code provided on the Fort Boggy or Friends of Fort Boggy Facebook pages. The registration links will not be available or activated until January 1st, so please mark your calendar for New Year’s Day and register!

*No registrations will be taken over the phone.

Space is limited to 75 pre-registered participants per session with a smaller number of walk-ins permitted. There are two sessions to choose from: Morning session (9:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.) and Afternoon session (1:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.)

During each session, participating children will receive an event t-shirt (pre-registered only) and, once they have completed the clinic portion of the event, will have the opportunity to fish in Lake Sullivan with their brand new Zebco rod ‘n’ reel donated by the Friends of Fort Boggy (bait will also be supplied to the participants). Complete instructions for each session will be provided at check-in on the day of the event.

This is a family event! Family members can bring their own equipment or use the park’s loaner equipment to fish. Bait can be purchased at the park office.

Every child, regardless of age, will receive a free ice cream coupon!

Additionally, each participant will receive a 2026 Kid Fish commemorative bag tag that can be clipped to a backpack or gym bag as well as a goodie bag of information and treats.

There will also be activities for participants’ siblings 4 years and younger – more details to follow on this in future articles.

The Annual Kid Fish at Fort Boggy State Park is FREE for all children 12 years and younger! A park entrance fee of $3.00 per person, 13 years and older is required. We encourage you to purchase a park entrance pass at the time of registration.

The “Annual Kid Fish” is hosted by Fort Boggy State Park and assisted by the Friends of Fort Boggy State Park and Texas Parks & Wildlife Fisheries Division.
