Santa schedule to visit in December

 

Fairfield Library hosted a special Book Signing & Mountain Folk Performance with TJ Hassell on Tuesday, November 18, 2025.
TJ Hassell is the author of three novels and numerous short stories.

The first book of her series, The Travel Letters, focuses on the life of Avalon Foster, who was determined to turn her life around after a neglected and tragic childhood.

The second novel, A Habit of Keeping Secrets, won the Appy Inkwell Award for best fiction at the Appalachian Writers Conference in Berea, Kentucky. In this book, you will discover how Avalon Foster’s letters continued for years to influence the people who found them.

In her newest novel, A Fortunate Turn, an aspiring novelist discovers a flawless plot for his first book using details from a handwritten note penned by his grandmother.

Currently, she has plans for a fourth book in this series. “As I write one book, I find aspects within that I can expand upon to create a new book,” says TJ. “While this is a series, you don’t have to read them in any particular order because each book has its own plot.”

In addition to her books, she is published in regional magazines, newspapers, and Windhover: a literary journal published at Mary Harden Baylor University.

The author is also part of the husband / wife duo, Stringfellows. The musicians perform at the Ozark Folk Center in Northern Arkansas, where they help preserve and share historic music and stories of the mountains on banjo, guitar, and vocals.

The couple splits their time between Mountain View, Arkansas and their East Texas home.

While at the Fairfield Library, TJ sold and signed books, then she and her husband played two Civil War era songs for guests.

The community is invited to join Fairfield Library for a special Story Time with Santa Claus on Thursday, December 18th at 5:30 p.m. Cookies and cocoa will be served, and children will have an opportunity to take pictures with Santa.
