Judge Linda Grant Steps Down Effective September 15, 2025
Freestone County Judge, Linda Grant (below), announced her retirement, effective September 15, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. during the September 3, 2025, regular meeting of the Commissioners’ Court.

“Serving the citizens of Freestone County for the past 25 plus years has been an honor,” said Judge Grant as she read her letter of retirement. “(To Commissioners) I am grateful for the opportunity to have worked alongside each of you in our county government. Thank you again for the opportunity to serve. I appreciate you all more than you know.”
Commissioners approved an Expanded Tax Abatement Agreement with Piedra Solar, LLC to add a Battery Storage System. The project will include a 300-Megawatt Solar Energy Generation and additional 100-Megawatt Battery Storage System and is marked as Expanded Reinvestment Zone 2A, located in Teague ISD area. The Projected Capital Investment is approximately $416,500,000 with a yearly PILOT (Payment in Lieu of Taxes) of $422,000 and an upfront payment of $10,000.

The Freestone County Commissioners regularly meet on the first and third Wednesday of each month, beginning at 9:00 a.m. in the second-floor courtroom, with occasional special called meetings throughout the year.
