We appreciate the concern shown by individuals who have contacted our department to report these matters. The Teague Police Department takes all reports of animal cruelty seriously and investigates such claims thoroughly and objectively.
In response to these allegations, our officers have visited the location identified in the complaints and spoken directly with parties involved. At this time, we have found no evidence to support any criminal activity related to animal cruelty within our jurisdiction.
It is important to note that the alleged incident in the Dallas–Fort Worth area falls outside the jurisdiction of the Teague Police Department. We encourage concerned citizens to contact the appropriate law enforcement agency in the jurisdiction where the incident is believed to have occurred.

Teague Police Department Clarifies Status
of Animal Cruelty Allegations – Aug. 14th
The Teague Police Department has completed a thorough review of recent allegations concerning the alleged abuse of dogs reportedly housed within the city limits. These claims, which include accusations of dog fighting and the use of bait animals, have circulated widely on social media and prompted significant public concern.
Following a detailed investigation, we can confirm the following:
–No evidence of animal cruelty has been found within the incorporated limits of Teague.
–The individual initially identified as housing the dogs resides in Teague; however, the animals themselves are located outside the city’s jurisdiction.
–Our Animal Control Officer made direct contact with the individual and conducted an in-person welfare check. The dogs were found to be safe, healthy, and exhibiting behavior consistent with well-treated animals.
–Contrary to circulating rumors, the dogs are alive and show no signs of abuse. They were observed to be playful and in good condition.
Due to the significant harassment the individual has endured because of these allegations, the Teague Police Department has recommended a voluntary surrender of the dogs to help de-escalate the situation and ensure their continued well-being. The individual has expressed support for this recommendation. While the surrender process is not yet finalized, we anticipate a positive and cooperative resolution.
We understand the emotional nature of animal welfare concerns and appreciate the community’s vigilance. However, we must emphasize that our department operates within the bounds of jurisdiction, law, and evidence. Allegations originating from other areas do not constitute proof of criminal activity in Teague, and we cannot act on speculation or assumptions.
Our department remains committed to transparency, professionalism, and the protection of all members of our community, human and animal alike. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as appropriate.
Final Statement
on Animal Welfare Allegations – Aug. 15th
The City of Teague is issuing this final statement regarding the recent animal cruelty allegations to inform the public of the outcome and formally conclude the City’s involvement in the matter.
The dogs’ owner voluntarily surrendered both animals to Teague Animal Control. A rescue volunteer assisted in transporting the dogs to Dallas Animal Services (DAS), the facility where they were originally received. During the transfer, Teague’s Animal Control Officer confirmed there were no signs of abuse or neglect and that both dogs appeared to be in good health.
Upon intake, DAS veterinary staff conducted a thorough evaluation and verified that the dogs are healthy and receiving appropriate care. The animals are now being transferred to a foster home for a 48-hour hold, after which they will be placed with an out-of-state adoption organization.
The City of Teague extends its sincere appreciation to the dogs’ owner, Teague Animal Control, the rescue volunteer, Teague Police Officers, and the staff at Dallas Animal Services for their professionalism and compassion throughout this process.
With this update, the City’s role in the matter is complete. Our team remained focused on the facts, acted responsibly, and ensured the animals received the care they deserved.
