The City of Streetman Board of Commissioners held a special meeting on Monday, August 11, 2025, in order to take care of urgent needs for the City.

First on the agenda in the 13-minute-long meeting was the acceptance of resignation of former Mayor, Johnny Robinson. Commissioners voted unanimously to accept the resignation.

Next, Commissioner Subrenna Turner made a motion to appoint Streetman resident, Adam Minze, to complete former Mayor Robinson’s term, which ends in May of 2026. Commissioner Barbara Polk seconded, and the motion was carried.

“Based on information that I was told prior that there was someone interested in being Mayor, that was wanting to run next year when it was time to vote, I reached out and spoke to him and decided to appoint him,” explained Commissioner Turner.

Patricia Territo, who, according to Commissioner Turner, had already been previously approved to serve as backup clerk to the Municipal Court, has been and will continue to serve as Interim City and Municipal Court Clerk until new employees can be hired.

Commissioner Turner stated that ads will be placed in the local newspapers and posted at City Hall to fill the two positions.

During public questions, one resident asked, “I understand that a new forensic audit was requested. How was it decided to have a new forensic audit done?”

Commissioner Turner responded, “I requested it back at the end of May through the Attorney General’s Office. I did that myself. I didn’t talk to nobody else about it because it’s nobody else’s business on what I request. I was notified by the Attorney General that that information has been forwarded.”

The resident then asked, “Was approval given to pay for that? How much is that going to cost us?”

Commissioner Turner’s response was, “They haven’t told us yet.”

After the meeting, when asked if she would like to comment on the meeting, Commissioner Polk replied with, “Change is good,” to which a resident stated, “And it was long overdue.”

The regular monthly meeting, which was scheduled for Monday, Aug. 18, was cancelled and no new date has been given yet.
