Mayor Resigns Post
The City of Streetman as Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to terminate City Clerk Heather Marfell and Municipal Court Clerk Danielle Grecu during the August 4, 2025, special-called meeting.
This meeting was scheduled to complete the agenda from the July 21, 2025, meeting.
Once called to order, the board convened into an Executive Session to discuss personnel matters regarding City Clerk, Municipal Court Clerk, Maintenance Worker, and Code Enforcement/Animal Control/Transfer Point Operator.
When the Executive Session ended, Commissioner Subrenna Turner stated: “Based on serious concerns of unprofessional behavior, I make a motion to terminate the Municipal Court Clerk.” Commissioner Barbara Polk seconded the motion, making it unanimous.
Then, Commissioner Turner went on saying, “Based on serious concerns of insubordination and dishonesty, I make a motion to terminate the City Clerk.” Again, Commissioner Polk seconded the motion.
No action was taken on Maintenance Worker or Code Enforcement/Animal Control/Transfer Point Operator.
Tabled again were agenda items to discuss scheduled hours of operation for each position, social media policy, newspaper interview protocol/policy, and time clock usage.
Following the adjournment of the meeting, Mayor Johnny Robinson resigned his position as Mayor.
When contacted, Mayor Robinson chose to make no comment.
Also choosing not to comment were former City Clerk Marfell and former Municipal Court Clerk Grecu.
Commissioner Turner, when contacted, stated, “I’ve been advised by my attorney not to make any comments until matters have been resolved. It’s business as usual at city hall.”
Commissioner Polk has yet to respond to attempts at communication. As Mayor Pro-Tem, Commissioner Polk is currently handling the position of Mayor until matters are settled.
