The Special Session is underway, and I’m back in Austin doing what you elected me to do: show up, stand firm, keep you informed, and get results.
Governor Abbott called this Special Session to address some of the most pressing issues facing our state, and I’m proud to work alongside him. At the top of the list is providing real help to our neighbors in the Hill Country who are recovering from the devastating floods earlier this month. That includes strengthening early warning systems, improving emergency communications, providing relief for families, and making sure local governments get the resources they need to rebuild and prepare for the future.
My husband Will and I are continuing to pray for the families, first responders, and communities impacted by these floods, and we invite you to join us in lifting them up.
We’re also tackling other important challenges—eliminating the STAAR test and replacing it with tools that better serve teachers and students, cutting property taxes and putting limits on out-of-control spending and appraisals, protecting kids from harmful THC products, defending the unborn by banning out-of-state abortion pills, and ensuring your tax dollars aren’t being used to fund lobbying efforts that go against your values.
While others may seek the spotlight, my focus remains on delivering meaningful results for you. I’m focused on solutions that reflect our conservative priorities and rural needs.
By far, my favorite days at the Capitol are when neighbors and constituents come to visit. It brings a little piece of home right here to Austin and reminds me why this work matters so much. I encourage you to stay engaged—whether that means sharing your thoughts with my office, attending a committee hearing, or simply reaching out to ask questions. Your voice is powerful, and it helps guide the decisions we make every day to better serve House District 13.
You’ll likely hear from a lot of outside groups, special interests, and activists trying to stir things up during this session. There’s no doubt they’ll be spreading lies throughout our communities. I want you to know I’m committed to making sure you get the truth—not just sound bites.
And if you ever wonder what’s really going on, come see it for yourself. This is a unique window of time when the Legislature is meeting during the summer. If you’re planning a day trip, I’d love for you to stop by the Capitol. Bring your kids and give them a front-row seat to how their government works. My door is always open to you, and I’d be honored to welcome you. When you get here, our office is Room E1.220. Feel free to call ahead to the office at (512) 463-0600—we’d love to welcome you and help make your trip to the Capitol as easy as possible!
