Freestone County Commissioners had a lite load on their first meeting of May, one of the primary decisions being the awarding of a depository bid between several area banks. After receiving bids from Farmers State Bank, Prosperity Bank, Community National Bank, and Citizens State Bank and reviewing, they voted unanimously to award the bid to Community National Bank as they offered the highest interest rate.

In addition, commissioners unanimously approved to continue using TexPool as the primary investment company for the County.

Also approved unanimously during this meeting were:

–Replat of H. Shepherd Survey Abstract 34, Davila Tract of 1.33 Acres, 0.5 Acres, and a Proposed Easement of 0.27 Acres

–Elected County Treasurer Mandy Chavers as the new Committee Administrator for the Sick Leave Pool

–Added Amy Willard, Blaire Gage, and Bret Jeans to the CPS Board

–Memorial Day Fireworks Sales

–Minutes from April 16, 2025, regular meeting and the April 28, 2025, special meeting

–Budget Transfers & Amendments, Bill Pay, Payroll, Reports, and Bonds & Education Certificates for County Officials & Employees.

Freestone County Commissioners meet on the first and third Wednesday of each month for their regularly scheduled meetings. Court starts at 9:00 a.m. and is held in the Commissioners’ Courtroom (Rm #203) at the courthouse, located at 118 E. Commerce Street in Fairfield.
