Early Voting begins this week for local School Board and City Council elections, as well as a Special Bond Election.

Poll locations for Early Voting in Freestone County will be at Fairfield Civic Center (Green Barn) located at 839 E. Commerce Street in Fairfield, Texas and at Wortham Fire Department located at 105 S. 2nd Street in Wortham, Texas.

Early Voting will be held Tuesday, April 22nd thru Friday, April 25th from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and on Monday & Tuesday, April 28th & 29th from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

 

The City of Fairfield will have two contested races in this election cycle.

–Place 3, previously held by current Mayor Bobby Nichols, is now open. There are three candidates vying for this spot. They include Rick Edgett, Marcus Mason, and William Freeman.

–Place 4 Incumbent Roger Keeton will face off against candidate Josh Bayless.

–Place 5 Incumbent Angela Oglesbee is unopposed.

 

The City of Wortham will have a race for Mayor in this election cycle.

–Sitting Mayor, Pellie Goolsby will face off against candidate Patricia (Patty) Jones.

There are two at-large seats up for reelection for Wortham City Council.

–Incumbents Scott Batts and Patrick Evans will face each other and an additional contender, Deborah Darlene Butcher Evans.

 

Wortham ISD will have one contested race in this election cycle.

–Place 2 Incumbent Billy Perez will face candidate Kyle Collins.

–Place 3 will see Incumbent Brent Jones unopposed.

–Place 4 will see Incumbent Ryan Carr unopposed.

 

Fairfield ISD has called a special Bond Election. The proposed $105.395 Million Bond would finance the following:

–New High School Campus – 600-student capacity and a new auditorium with 40% increased seating capacity.

–Districtwide Campus Renovations & Improvements – for Elementary, Intermediate, and Junior High campuses (including furniture & equipment).

–Safety & Security Improvements – Construction of a Security Vestibule at the Elementary school, and bringing all High School programs under one roof.
