Dear Editor,

“UNREALISTIC!” That’s the phrase used by new Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, when telling the world what America (Trump/Putin) thinks about Ukraine joining NATO, or hoping to gain back lands taken from their sovereign nation by Russia’s violent invasion.

Of course, Trump and Hegseth are “musing” about making “peace” in Ukraine, because it was one of Trump’s campaign promises to “end the war in Ukraine ON DAY ONE! (It’ll be EASY!)”

Day one has come and gone, but Trump is giving a preview of America’s take on how to end the war: CAPITULATE TOTALLY TO WHATEVER RUSSIA WANTS! There’s not much of ART in a DEAL that gives everything away, and it’s especially unartful if what you’re giving away isn’t even YOURS.

But that brings up another issue: Why would Trump not seek to achieve peace in the Ukraine-Russia area the same way he proposes bring peace to the middle east? That is, to have the USA take over war-torn GAZA, and turn it into a vast resort area? Sure, Ukraine is a little farther north than Gaza, but it boasts a whole lot of seaside property, and could offer winter sports!

The USA could turn the zone between Russia and Ukraine into the “Riviera of Eastern Europe!” Golf courses instead of mine fields! Tons of luxury condos popping up in place of bombed-out cities! World-class upscale shopping centers, and restaurants galore (to replace starving refugees) featuring fresh caviar and ice-cold Vodka! Gourmet Borscht! Chicken Kyiv to die for!

I wonder why this “solution” is good for displaced Palestinians, but not on the radar for displaced Ukrainians (and Russians who want a better home and a better life)?

C’mon, Donald. Don’t wimp out now! Why not spread peace and prosperity (and gold-plated toilets) wherever war zones spring up in the world, by having the USA take over the disputed lands to create American-sponsored Gardens of Prosperity, one at a time?

It’s a WIN-WIN-WIN for all involved! And if it’s NOT a great idea for Ukraine, kindly explain why it IS a good idea for Gaza??!?
