Dear Editor:

I feel like such a fool. I raised my children to respect law and order. I raised my children to respect police, and to understand that laws against violence need to be abided, and exist for good reason. I taught my children America’s justice system is the best system devised by man to hold people accountable for their actions. Now, my nation, President Trump and those who elected him, tell me I was a fool.

Such a fool I was. I raised my kids to believe that service to this nation is honorable. That taking an oath of fidelity to the Constitution was a sacred promise, and that this nation was worth any sacrifice. Now I watch, as supposed “public servants” WHO ALL TOOK THE OATH disparage rule of law, demonize public servants, disrespect those in uniform, and treat their own oaths as MEANINGLESS. What a fool I’ve been.

Such a fool I was, for raising my children to respect others, and certainly to view men who would abuse, attack, and sexually assault women as unworthy of any position in our society of trust and responsibility. Donald J. Trump and those who elected him tell me I was a complete imbecile, and that in America today, sexual abusers should sit on the Supreme Court, run our Military, and even be Chief Executive of this nation! How could I have been so WRONGHEADED??

I taught my children not to betray those who hire them for jobs, by secretly taking outside money to serve the interests those who would bribe them, and AGAINST the interests of those who hired them. This is basic ethics. Such a betrayal should be unthinkable in any business.

I taught my kids, if they had a problem with an employer, the answer is to simply QUIT, rather than betraying and sabotaging from within. What a FOOL I have been. Supreme Court Justices Alito, Thomas, and Kavanaugh tell me I’ve been an idiot for teaching these kinds of ethics to my kids. I’ve in fact CRIPPLED my kids by failing to encouraging them to follow the examples set by Trump, by the Supreme Court, by Trump’s cabinet picks, by Republicans in Congress, by the Jan 6 rioters, and by folks such as the slates of FAKE Trump electors in so many states.

Excuse crime, excuse violence, excuse fraud, excuse abuse, excuse lying and spreading misinformation. Justify such behavior by claiming VICTIMHOOD. That’s the new parenting message, the way Moms and Dads should raise America’s next generation.

The America I loved, the America I knew, where teaching simple things like the Golden Rule – “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you” was the RIGHT thing … that America is dead. Trump and his supporters tell me the Golden Rule has been replaced by the “Rule of the Most Gold” with the simpler slogan: “Do unto others.” Grab them by their private parts. Beat on Law Enforcement. Disparage courts and judges. Break up families. Lie. Lie some more. Grift; take every opportunity to sell junk to suckers. Claim “unfair treatment” whenever you’re caught.

I thank the Lord Above that I’ve already raised my children based on America’s “old rules.” Maybe, in years to come, they might help steer this nation back towards proper values. Meanwhile, Trump and his supporters will continue trying to set NEW standards for raising children as lawless, advantage-taking, disrespectful and violent, all the while taking no responsibility and always blaming others. I pray they fail in their attempt, and that their “new standards” be seen for what they are: ANTITHETICAL to true America values, UnAmerican and UnChristian.
