The Fairfield Invitational Basketball Tournament featured twelve good teams in four pools to play through a Gold, Silver, and Bronze Bracket.
Pool A was won by Neches with two wins over Madisonville and Teague. Madisonville split the two games and Teague lost bot. Shaffer had the big game of pool play with a 29-point performance in a 54-41 win over Teague.
The teams in Pool B split their tournament games and the Fairfield Lady Eagles would advance to the Gold Bracket. Burnet defeated Fairfield 53-48 and lost to Mount Vernon.
The Pool C teams featured the Lady Bees of Academy who won the pool play with a pair of wins over Taylor and Waco Connally. Pool D featured a couple of dominating wins by perennial power Martins Mill. They defeated Mexia and China Spring in pool play.
In the Bronze semifinals Mexia defeated Teague 26-21 and Taylor defeated Mount Vernon 41-27. Connaly outlasted Mount Vernon in the consolation final and Taylor defeated Mexia 35-25 in the bronze final.
The Silver final had Madisonville coming from behind to take the win against Burnet 51-45. The third-place game was Teague moving to the silver bracket when Connally and China Spring did not want to face each other since they were district opponents. The Lady Lions won a low-scoring game 40-35.
Fairfield fell to the Lady Bees in the Gold semifinal and Martins Mill claimed a 55-36 win over Neches. Fairfield dominated Neches in the consolation game and the Lady Mustangs defeated Academy in the Gold tournament final 53-38.
