A Veteran’s Day Recognition Ceremony was held at the Veterans Remembrance Park of Teague on Monday, November 11th.

Approximately 100 community residents attended the ceremony to honor and thank veterans for their sacrifices and their military service to the United States of America.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5872, Fairfield, Texas posted the colors, and the Teague High School Band played the national anthem to begin the ceremony.

Douglas Smith, Major, United States Air Force (Retired) and President of the park board of directors highlighted recent improvements to the park, including new lighting for the flags and soldier statue.

He also let the attendees know of future improvements to the park, including a new park sign and metal awning covers to provide shade to visitors and shield memorial benches from getting weathered prematurely.

Guest speaker for the ceremony was Beth Harrison, a 20-year Air Force Veteran and retiree, who spoke about the importance of our military members in keeping our country safe and strong. Mrs. Harrison also talked about the Wreaths Across America Day, that will be held on December 14, 2024.

The Veteran’s Remembrance Park of Teague is now an official site for their ceremony, that remembers the fallen, honors those who serve, and teaches the next generation so no veteran is forgotten.

The public is encouraged to attend the ceremony at the Veterans Remembrance Park of Teague on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at 10:00 a.m.
