Billie Mae Bond, 92, of Fairfield, Texas, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2024.

Born in Freestone County, Texas, to Raymond E. Rankin and Zada Elizabeth Browne Rankin on February 15, 1932, Billie grew up in Fairfield and attended Fairfield High School. She was an active student, excelling as a member of the softball and volleyball teams, a cheerleader, and the Fairfield High School Queen of 1949.

In 1957, Billie married the love of her life, Homer T. Bond Jr., after meeting him on a blind date. Their life together was filled with adventure and love, including two years in the Philippine Islands while Homer served in the U.S. Air Force. The couple lived in various places before settling in Fairfield upon retirement.

Billie was known for her love of bridge and other card games, crossword and jigsaw puzzles, bird watching, and travel.

She was a devoted member of the First United Methodist Church in Fairfield, where she nurtured her faith and friendships.

Billie was preceded in death by her husband, Homer T. Bond Jr., and her siblings, Travis and Linda.

She is survived by her loving family, Joe Bond and wife Norma of Fairfield, TX, Larry Bond and wife Donna of Granbury, TX. Her legacy also lives on through her grandchildren: Tina Bond Richardson and husband Clint of Vidor, TX, Brad Bond and wife Francis of Fort Worth, TX, Ryan Bond of Fairfield, TX, Amy Pina and husband Manny of Corpus Christi, TX, Blake Bond and wife Taylee of Granby, CO, Logan Waresback and wife Jamie of Millsap, TX., and her great-grandchildren: Justin, Kelsey, Aarilynn, Brice, Faylinn, Fairlee, Brady, Parker, and Carter, as well as great-great-grandchildren Logan, Wyatt, and Little Logan.

Honorary Pallbearers include Charles Wilson, Bill Turner, Gary Toothman, Hubie Fryer, Kevin Carroll, Steve Wilson, Dick White, Billy Jim Day, and Maurice Burleson.

Visitation will be November 23, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. with Funeral following at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fairfield United Methodist Church, Freestone Cancer Support Group, or Lake Chapel Cemetery.

Billie will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who lived her life with grace, warmth, and a deep love for her family and community.
