Early Voting Ends Friday; Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 5th
“We have had a record-breaking number of voters during Early Voting this year,” says Freestone County’s Election Administrator, Renee’ McBay. “Day 1 of Early Voting saw a total of 1,022 voters, and for the first week, through Monday, October 8th at noon, we’ve had a total of 4,630 votes.”
McBay says that she’s had so many voters, she has had to order more ballots to make sure there are enough to serve everyone. So far there have been 143 Ballots by Mail received. The highest number of voters has been in the 65 to 74-year-old age group; and so far, 264 voters in the 18 to 24-year age group have cast their ballots.
“We are very happy with the turn out,” exclaims McBay.
Early Voting in person ends this Friday, November 1st for the Presidential and local election. Election Day will be next Tuesday, November 5, 2024.
For Freestone County, Early Voting is being held at two locations.
–Fairfield Conference Center (839 E. Commerce in Fairfield) October 28 – November 1 from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
–Teague City Hall (105 S. 4th Ave. in Teague) October 28 – November 1 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
On Election Day, registered voters must cast their ballots at the location assigned to their voting precinct. Please note that Pct. #2 Fairfield and Pct. #7 Wortham have been moved to the locations listed below.
There will be thirteen polling locations on November 5th, each to be open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Both Oakwood and Buffalo ISDs will be having special elections this year.
Oakwood ISD is calling for the approval of the ad valorem tax rate because the adopted rate exceeds the RISD Voter-Approval Tax Rate (VATR). Ratifying the ad valorem tax rate of $0.6969 in Oakwood ISD for the current year, a rate that will result in an increase of 7.09 percent in maintenance and operations tax revenue for the district for the current year as compared to the preceding year, which is an additional $113,57.00.
Early voting in person will be October 21 through November 1 at either Annex II, located at 115 North Cass, 3rd Floor in Centerville, or at Buffalo City Hall Convention Center, located at 812 North Buffalo Avenue in Buffalo. Hours for voting will be 10/21 to 10/25 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., 10/26 from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., 10/27 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and 10/28 to 11/01 from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Buffalo ISD is calling for voter-approval bond election for the issuance of $46,500,000 of bonds for the construction, renovation, improvement, acquisition, and equipment of school buildings in the district, including necessary sites, and the levying of a tax sufficient, without limit as to rate or amount, to pay the principal of and interest of the bonds and to pay the costs of any credit agreements executed or authorized in anticipation of, in relation to, or in connection with the bonds; this is a property tax increase.
