Fairfield Chamber of Commerce has been hard at work this last quarter, as evident in their meeting recap with Chamber Ambassadors on Monday, October 7, 2024.
In July, the Chamber hosted the annual Fuzzy Peach Festival. This event has grown considerably over the past few years, with the addition of water features and a felly ball game. This year, there were more than 25 vendors and large numbers turned out for the Cornhole tournament, led by the Go Texan Group. Music was provided by Paige Lewis. Next year’s event will be held on July 18-19, 2025.
In August, 20 Teacher Bags were presented to new teachers at Fairfield ISD during their back-to-school teacher orientation. These bags were full of lots of goodies offered by area businesses. If you have swag to present, please drop it off at the Chamber office. They give gift bags throughout the year.
Additionally, in August, the Chamber, with the sponsorship of Community National Bank & Trust, Attorney Chad Morgan, and Libby Harris of Premier Realty, served a variety of muffins from Cafe’ Around the Corner, breakfast burritos from Fairfield Donuts, scones from Dessers by MommaCakes and sausage and biscuits from McDonalds to all teachers at the annual Teachers’ Breakfast. Door prizes were also provided for the teachers, donated by local businesses.
At the end of August, Administrative Assistant Ashley DeVellier stepped down from the position to spend more time with her family.
Taking up the post as of September 1st, was Emily Plemons McGowan (top right), who hit the ground running at with the annual Show of Wheels weekend.
More than 25 kids participated in the Kids Style Painting with Picasso event and enjoyed a hotdog dinner provided by Fairview Healthcare.
There was also a Car Art Show held at the Trinity Star Art Gallery, which was a great experience for the kids.
The Show of Wheels had a record number of entries this year, with a total of 174. There was live music and vendors.
Next year’s event will be held on September 6, 2025, and will be the 27th anniversary of the event.
Also in September, area kiddos had the pleasure of having breakfast with Santa. More than 55 letters to Santa were written and lots of pancakes with chocolate chips were eaten. Other stations included pictures with Santa, s’mores, reindeer food, face painting, and Santa puppets. Members of Faith Fellowship Baptist Church (Fairfield) joined in the fun by volunteering their time.
On October 1st, the Chamber, with the help of area business, celebrated local Law Enforcement Officers at the annual National Night Out event, held at Fairfield Police Department (City Hall). Many businesses and organizations donated food, treats, fun and games for the kids. It was a great success, as usual.
Saturday, October 5th, Fairfield EDC hosted a large group of investors travelling to our community. The Chamber provided gift bags filled with goodies from local businesses.
