Investment Tour to Stop in Fairfield
Fairfield’s Economic Development Corporation (EDC) is hosting one of 15 stops on the ‘Best of Texas’ Bus Tour this Saturday, October 5, 2024.
This tour consists of businessmen and women; 17 from Japan and 3 from Taiwan, who are either business owners, brokers, or site selectors who are interested in possibly starting or expanding business in Texas.
Fairfield is the last stop on this week-long tour, and David Fowler, President of the EDC, will greet the group on the Courthouse Square at 11:30 a.m., where they will be treated to a performance by Fairfield High School Band.
Following the performance, they will proceed to Trinity Star Art Council’s art gallery for refreshments and to view local artist Andy Emmons’s western art display.
They will then lunch at Dessert by MommaCakes, where Fowler will give a presentation on the EDC’s Industrial Park before taking a tour of the park.
“I want to make clear that there are no Chinese businessmen or women on this trip,” explains Fowler. “Japan and Tiwan are allies of the U.S. and the people on this tour have been fully vetted by the Secretary of State before being allowed to come, and they paid to be here. We do not do business with the Chinese, who are communists. This meeting also has nothing to do with the high-speed rail. We are simply welcoming and educating businesspersons who want to get acquainted with Texas for business purposes.”
As a side note, the Industrial Park currently houses 11 businesses and employs approximately 200 personnel.
“One of the perks of our Industrial Park is that we are not highly regulated on aesthetics,” says Fowler. “We follow the 2006 International Building Code for environmental safety but make it easy on businesses by not having strict aesthetic regulations like many larger towns and cities.”
While this is a closed tour, the community is welcome to watch the band play at the courthouse, beginning at 11:30 a.m.
