DUE TO WINDY, DRY CONDITIONS, and careless burning, Freestone County Commissioners Court reinstated the Burn Ban for the County as of Saturday afternoon, September 28, 2024.
This was Fairfield and Wortham Fire Departments (at top), with the help of Texas Forest Service, working several ‘controlled burns’ that were left unattended in these conditions, resulting in quickly spread fires.
Other County fire departments experienced the same type of calls over the weekend as well.
