Get Your Students Ready for ‘Back to School’ with These Events

The 4th Annual School Supply Give Away will be held THIS Saturday, August 3, 2024, at Fairfield’s city park.

This event is for all children in grades pre-K through 12th grade.

Each student will receive a backpack with supplies to help them get the new school year started on the right foot.

Beginning at noon that day, backpacks will be available on a first come, first serve basis. There will also be hotdogs, chips, and drinks available for the kids, as well as some rides (above).

SUN., AUG 4TH

–Backpack Bash for all school kids on the Southside of RC Lake.  FREE backpack, school supplies, and hotdog supper from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Lakeside United Methodist Church. Call 903-599-3080 to register (required).

MON., AUG 5TH
–First Day of School for Dew ISD.
–Meet the Teacher at Wortham ISD from 6:00-7:00 p.m. Orientation for PreK, Kindergarten and First Grade also held this date.
–Back To School Bash beginning 7:00 p.m. at the Gym at Wortham ISD.

TUES., AUG 6TH
–Sixth Grade Orientation at Wortham ISD from 6:00-7:00 p.m.

WED., AUG 7TH
–Fish Camp at Teague High School from 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
–Retirement Party honoring Pat Cothran at Teague ISD Admin. Building from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. Refreshments served at this ‘come and go’ event.

THURS., AUG 8TH
–First Day of School for Wortham ISD.
–Fairfield Lions Club meeting beginning 6:00 p.m. at Fairfield Nursing & Rehab. Every second and fourth Thursday.

SAT., AUG 10TH
–Second Saturday – Monthly Meeting and Potluck Lunch for Veteran Partners at 972 FM 1365 in Mexia. Meeting starts 10:30 a.m., Lunch to follow at approximately 12:00 noon. Veterans are invited to come out for good food and fun visiting.

MON., AUG 12TH
–Meet the Teacher at Fairfield ISD: 4:30-6:00 p.m. at Elementary; 5:00-6:30 p.m. at Intermediate.

–4-H Kick Off Pool Party from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Tri-County Golf Club. Come learn about Freestone County 4-H. No outside food or drink; but will be available on-site for purchase.
