The Fairfield Eagles defended their playoff spot but could not move onto the next round when the Lorena Leopards 53-34 Tuesday night at Corsicana High School.
Fairfield had earned the fourth playoff spot with a win over Teague in a one game playoff at Madisonville High School and had the immediate turnaround to play their first-round playoff game.
Kohl Collins scored six of the eight first quarter points for the Eagles and Lorena got a pair of threes from Brock and he scored eight of the 13 points to put the Leopards ahead and they would not trail the entire night.
Seeley and Bodey combined for ten points in the second period and the Leopards added a dozen points to their lead. Pierre Algood hit a long distance three pointer and Donte Alexander and Collins scored and Lorena led 32-15 at intermission.
Collins and Alexander teamed up for four points each in the third quarter to try and cut into the halftime deficit and were able to shave two points off the lead. The defensive effort in the paint by the Eagles held the Leopards to only eight points in the period and Fairfield trailed 40-25 heading into the final period.
Brock scored six in the final period and led all scorers with 19 points on the night and these points fueled the Lorena wire-to-wire win.
Algood counted with four in the period, but the Leopards would come away with the win.
Collins led the Eagles with 12 points and Fairfield ends their season under the first season for head coach Donte Wilson. The Fairfield Eagles will lose their seniors but will return some talent for the team in the next season.
