Geraldine Thompson united with the Heavenly Father on December 18, 2023. Born September 6, 1939, in Houston, Texas, she was the oldest daughter of Johnny and Iva Atkinson. Known to most as “Mama Geri”, she is the rock of the family. A mother in every sense of the word, her faith was strong, she stood for what she believed in, and she always made sure you knew you were loved. Family was of the utmost importance to Geri. The beloved bride of Wade Farmer, she had four children – Glen, Jerry, Glenda, and Twila- eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
Geri was a hard worker who saw much success as a business owner and truck driver. Her creativity was displayed by the beautiful quilts she carefully crafted, and she enjoyed traveling and playing games with her family. At home with her family and friends was her favorite place to be.
Geri was God’s child, and a faithful believer in Christ. A dedicated student of Arnold Murray, she leaves a legacy of unwavering faith, kindness, and abundant love that will be felt for generations. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father, and a loving brother.
Geri is survived by her husband Wade Farmer; children Glen Young and wife Jamie of Buffalo, Jerry Young of Fairfield, Glenda Bruce of Monks Corner, and Twila Olive and husband Steve of Winnsboro; grandchildren Michael and Kayla, Richard and Candace, Don and Chasity, Chole and Christina; great grandchildren Bailey, Kaylen, and Dillian; great great grandchild Lariat; five sisters; two brothers; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Saturday, December 23, 2023, from 9:00am until 11:00am at Capps Memorial Chapel in Fairfield, Texas. Funeral service will be held immediate after visitation at 11:00am, with interment following at Boykin Chapel Cemetery.
