It’s been a busy, hot, and long day for some of our Deputies at the FCSO.
Overnight there were 5 vehicle thefts in the county. Our agency has been working hard to search areas, run down possible leads, and has recovered 2 of the 5 vehicles so far. These are open investigations and our Deputies and Investigators will continue to do follow-ups in any and all areas that we can.
These vehicles were taken in areas from Teague – Butler. So south-central to east Freestone County. Main roads would include FM 179 and FM 489 W.
There were over 1 million vehicle thefts in the United States in 2022. These numbers continue to rise. A vehicle is stolen at an avg. of every 32 seconds. Only about 42% of all vehicles stolen are ever recovered.
Help us help you :
— Take your keys out of the car
— Lock your vehicle
— Roll-up your windows
— Don’t leave your vehicle running and walk away
— Park in well-lit areas if possible
— If possible, utilize anti-theft devices
We, unfortunately, have people that make a living stealing other people’s property, including vehicles. Don’t become the next customer they’re making money off of.
Be aware – Be Cautious – Report Suspicious Activity
