Tuesday March 28, 2023 approximately 6:34 pm Freestone County Dispatcher received a call of a possible suicidal person near the Brookshire Brother’s shopping center in Teague. Officers were immediately dispatched with the first one arriving on scene at about 6:40 pm. Other Teague officers, Freestone County Deputies, and Texas DPS arrived a short time following the initial arriving officer. Teague EMS also arrived on scene a short time following initial officers.
Communication with the individual was established by Teague Police, family, and significant others. The individual was armed with a knife and refusing to come out of the home, with was secured to prevent entry. The individual ceased communicating with family and officers. Fearing he may attempt self-harm Officers forced entry into the home and quickly subdued the adult male around 7:27 pm. He was unharmed during the apprehension but received prompt medical evaluation, by Teague EMS, to ensure he was physically well. No other persons were inside the home. He was removed from the home and transported to a medical facility for the emotional episode.
No officers or individuals were hurt during this incident.
