The lake is starting to look like a lake again. There for a while The Colonel was driving the tractor across the end part of the lake because it was dry and made a nice short cut for him to not only avoid the cows, but he could get over to the hay pen in shorter time.
I fed the cows today and enjoyed doing it. I love to feed them, move hay, etc. I guess it is because I am an outdoor woman. I loved it also because the sun was out, it was warm, and the cows didn’t give me any problems! Well, I should say the Middle Herd didn’t give me any problems. When I got through feed the Middle Herd, it was feed the Yearling Herd’s time. They were waiting on me and looked as if they had never seen a tractor or gate, or anything outdoors! They were lined up at the fence and I had to not only open the gate but get in the pasture, get the gate closed and locked, get back on the tractor and move out without letting any of the cows to come through the gate.
Well, what I do when I am faced with making all of that work, I pray and ask the Lord to help me out. He always does and he did so again today. I pulled through the gate but didn’t get far enough in to get the hay bale out of the way of the gate. I did some quick two stepping, getting to the tractor, pulling the tractor up, closing the gate and getting back on the tractor while the Yearlings stood there looking out of the gate and I knew they were plotting to run out. But I hurried with a prayer and thing went great. No body left their home, they all got fed, (including Sundance), and I was able to do what I had volunteered to do. Thanks be to the Lord.
