Veteran Hiring Fair Nov. 10 in Waco
With Veterans Day quickly approaching, employers can do more than just thank a hero—they can hire one. More than 21,413 veterans call McLennan and surrounding counties home. With transferable skills like leadership, communication and integrity, veterans are an untapped source of talent for local employers.
“Our veterans bring unique experiences and a wealth of practical knowledge to our organizations,” said Blake Brooks, a veteran and human resource specialist at the Texas Farm Bureau in Waco. “Their work ethic and professionalism are a force-multiplier in our workplace.”
The Texas Farm Bureau, along with over 60 local employers and veteran resource providers, will participate in the 11th annual Hiring Red, White & You! veteran hiring fair on Thursday, Nov. 10, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Brazos Hall in the Waco Convention Center located at 100 Washington Ave. The event is Waco’s largest veteran hiring fair.
“Between figuring out how their skills transfer in the real-world to finding and securing employment, re-entering civilian life and planning that next career step can be a confusing and difficult process for veterans,” said Jose Palacios, manager of business and industry initiatives at Workforce Solutions for the Heart of Texas in Waco. “Year after year, we’ve watched Hiring Red, White & You! help bridge the gap between veterans, veteran spouses, active service members and employers who value the rich skill set they bring to today’s job market.”
This event is free to employers and job seekers and is open to the general public. More information can be found online at bit.ly/register-hrwy.
This event is hosted by Workforce Solutions for the Heart of Texas in partnership with the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC), Texas
Veterans Commission (TVC) and Texas Medical Center (TMC).
