We let the cows out of the Northeast Pasture this past week. They came at a run, all of them. They quickly ran to the feeders for meal, cubes, etc. They ended up by bending the roof of the feeder. They tried hard to over turn a feeder, but it didn’t go so they settled for fighting with each other.

When The Colonel took salt to one of the feeders, the cows came running from all over the place. Lucinda, the calf we saved and now has two babies of her own, saw me walking down to the feeders so she started following me. I waved my hands to let her know I didn’t have anything to give her and that she should follow him (The Colonel); she quickly saw what was going on and quickly ran down to one of the feeders.

Last, but certainly not least, came the calves, calves of all sizes. Running, kicking their heels up, butting heads with each other, etc. I saw some of the mothers looking at them as if they were glad to see their little ones working off some of that energy. The Red Oak Ranch has a lot of room for running!
