Freestone County Historical Commission awarded a $500 scholarship certificate to Kamren Griffin at their July 5 meeting. Accepting the award on his behalf was his mother, Tonya Roberts.

Mr. Griffin will be attending Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton to study mechanical engineering.

His winning essay was entitled, “Dogan High School – Home of the Wildcats” in tribute to his grandfather, Leon Preston, who attended Dogan High.
