Last week, the Teague community struggled to begin their day after learning that one of their own had been taken, with the perpetrator on the loose.
On Wednesday, February 23, 2022, approximately 04:59 a.m., Teague Police responded to Brookshire Brothers, located at 220 Loop 255 in Teague, for an unconscious and unresponsive woman in a vehicle.
The woman had been found by employees of the store.
Responding officers quickly determined the woman was deceased and began an investigation into the manner of death, which appears to be a homicide.
Texas Rangers, Freestone County Sheriff’s Office, and Freestone County Attorney’s Office are assisting Teague Police with the investigation.
No further information has been released at press time.
Thanks to pledges from Freestone County folks, the Freestone County Law Enforcement Association is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons responsible for the Murder of Mrs. Von Staggs at the Brookshire Brother’s in Teague, Texas on February 23, 2022.
