February became our first month with normal or above rainfall since October 2021 with 3.83 inches. Our normal February rainfall is 3.31 inches. We had seven days with measureable rainfall with a two-day total of 2.43 inches on February 2nd and 3rd.
We did have some wintry mix with sleet on February 3 and snow on February 12. The temperature remained above freezing during the snow and resulted in 0.14 inch of precipitation which would probably have been about three quarters to one inch of snow had the temperature been freezing or below.
Our total rainfall for the year stands at 4.81 inches. Normal through February is 6.57 inches. Our record wettest February was 9.57 inches in 1997. Our driest February was 0.13 inch in 1999.
Temperature-wise, February did produce several days with freezing or below temperatures. We had a high of 74 degrees on February 11 and a low of 26 degrees on February 6.
Looking ahead to March: March is normally our fourth coldest month with some freezing temperatures possible. March is also one of our wettest months of the year with a normal of 4.96 inches of rain.
Our record wettest March was 9.54 inches of rain in 2012. Record driest was 0.25 inch one year earlier in 2011 which was also our record driest year with only 32.53 inches of rain.
Normal rainfall data used was derived from average rainfall over the 20-period from 2001 through 2020.
