Multiple Volunteer Fire Departments worked a large grass fire in the Northern part of Freestone County on FM 416. Resources were also requested from the Texas Forestry Service to gain control.
According to Teague Volunteer Fire Department, this was one of three grass fires worked in the county on Sunday, February 20, 2022.
“Please do not burn, carelessly discard cigarettes, weld without someone watching for fire,” posted Teague VFD on their social medial page. Reportedly, these were contributing factors in theses fires over the weekend.
According to Freestone County Office of Emergency Management, fire was extinguished by 9:42 p.m. on Sunday. However, they cautioned that there may be some smoldering, and/or smoke in the area.
