Dear Editor,
Thomas Sowell is a towering intellect, a true Renaissance Man, and a genuine American patriot. A Harvard graduate, he is nearly 100 years old now, but he should be remembered for the truths he shared; some are listed here and should be remembered in these trying times. He is a black hero who loves his country. In his own words:
“What exactly is your “fair share” of what someone else has worked for?”
“Why is it greed to want to keep the money you’ve earned but not greed to want to take some else’s money?”
“Civil rights used to be about treating everyone the same; today people are so used to special treatment that equal treatment is considered discrimination.”
“Ours may be the first civilization destroyed, not by our enemies, but by the ignorance of our teachers and the dangerous nonsense they are teaching our children.”
“One of the sad signs of our times today is that we have demonized those who produce, subsidized those who refuse to produce, and canonized those who complain.”
“One of the consequences of such notions as ‘entitlements’ is that people who have contributed nothing to society feel that society owes them something just for being here.”
“The welfare state is the oldest con game in the world: first, take people’s money away quietly and then give back some of it flamboyantly.”
“Too much of what is called ‘education’ is nothing more than expensive indoctrination from reality.”
“Popular thought in ‘progressive’ circles is that nobody is responsible for what he did but that we’re all responsible for what someone else did.”
“Unfortunately much of the social history of the Western world these past decades has been a history of replacing what has worked with what sounds good.”
I salute Mr. Sowell!
God bless America
