I am sure there was a lot of damage all over Freestone County due to the snow, and the second snow along with ice and then a wave of water earlier this year. It comes with the territory, I guess. At least that is what The Colonel says. I think these are cycles of weather from who knows how many years, probably 100 years ago

Driving through the Sweet Gum Grove the other day, I had to get out of the truck and move limbs off the road. I noticed some of the trees looked kind of peaked also. Then, I looked at how many trees were not coming out with lots of green leaves around the house, the yard, and just outside the fence. We had in our yard some beautiful Rock Rose flowers, but they didn’t survive the winter.

After cutting the grass, which had gotten out of hand because of the constant rain, the yard, with what flowers are left and some that are coming up, and even the weeds were a miracle to see. Even though we are going to lose some trees and flowers, the place looks pretty nice and will only get better as time goes on. I think the “cycle” for the kind of weather we had this past winter will be gone for another 100 years. Hopefully, so will the Red Oak Ranch!
