June 2021 followed a near record wet May with slightly above normal rainfall at 4.34 inches. We had seven days with measurable rainfall with a greatest one-day total of 1.53 inches on June 28. Normal June rainfall is 4.02 inches.
Our total rainfall for the year stands at 28.29 inches. Normal through June is 24.23 inches. Our record wettest June was 13.26 inches in 2004. Record driest June was 0.23 inch in 2008.
Temperature-wise, June temperatures were about normal with highs mostly in the mid 80’ s to low 90’ s and lows in the mid 60’ s to low 70’ s. High temperature for the month was 96 degrees on June 14, 17 and 21. Our low temperature was 63 degrees on June 2.
Looking ahead to July
July is normally our second driest month of the year with an average of 2.62 inches of rain. Our record driest July was 0.02 inch of rain 1997 and our record wettest July was 8.89 inches in 2007.
Our third hottest month of the year is now behind us but number one clocks in on July 1. We have had triple-digit temperatures numerous times in July in the past. Our hottest temperature on record was 114 degrees on July 23 in 2018.
Normal rainfall values given were derived from averages over the twenty-year period 2001 through 2020. Record values given are for the twenty-seven year period 1994 through 2020.
