Friday morning, April 23, 2021, Lisa Michelle Pope, 53, was arrested and charged with Fraudulent Use or Possession of Identifying Information.
As the number of identifying items in the charge number less than five, a possible conviction could be punished as a State Jail Felony, with a maximum possible fine under Texas State law of up to $10,000 and jail time of up to two years.
It is illegal in the State of Texas to obtain, possess, transfer, or use someone else’s ID or other identification documents without that person’s permission, but only if you intended to cause some harm or commit fraud.
Bond in this case was set at $5,000. Pope bonded out at approximately 2:00 p.m. that same day.
At the time of arrest, Pope was the Managing Editor of The Fairfield Recorder and the Teague Chronicle.
According to reports, the allegation against Pope involves a previous place of employment.
