As the time for feeding draws near an end, it seems almost sad. I got a chance to feed the cows by myself last week and it felt good to drive the tractor, pick up the bales, and feel as if I am helping The Colonel. It is great watching their faces as I talk and wave my hands for emphasis. I know they don’t understand what I am saying or doing but it is fun anyway.

But, alas, The Colonel took over the task once again and I am regulated to cutting the wrap and taking it off the bales. But it is still being outside and still seeing the cows, calves, and the bulls and talking to them.

He says it helps him a lot in that he doesn’t have to climb down and then climb back on the tractor when we work as a team. The calf that is in the corral has discovered grass and has lots of it to eat. He is looking a lot better and is filling out like a healthy calf does. Still a little skittish but that’s OK. The Red Oak Ranch is just fun, work, and fun.
